"Blue & Green" Mock Meet

Dive into summer season with our Splashtacular Mock Meet, the Oakton Otters' first official plunge of the season!

This Otter-only event is your chance to experience dive meet magic without the pressure of competing against another team. It's the perfect warm-up for seasoned divers and a no-stress zone for newbies to get their feet wet (literally!).

This is also the best chance for dive fam newbies to dive in (figuratively, of course!) and learn the ropes of meet volunteering alongside friendly faces while watching your Otter jump.

Get ready for some splashtastic fun, team spirit, and summer vibes at the "Blue & Green" Mock Meet!

The Mock Meet is a pre-season event held Tuesday June 10, 2025 at 6pm.  Divers arrive by 4:45pm for warm-ups.

Dual Meets

Dual Meets are NVSL sanctioned meets, in which our Otters compete against 5  other teams seeded in our division (division 1) throughout the season.  Each team can enter up to 32 athletes for each of those meets across all diving categories and genders.

Divers must confirm their availability to compete for each meet by the prior Friday. Coaches will assess divers' safety and technical proficiency to select the divers for each meet. Selected divers will be notified by Sunday evening.

The NVSL has four age groups of competition. NVSL diving age group eligibility is determined by the diver’s age on June 1st. Coaches are allowed to ask a diver to "dive-up" one age group if the coach determines this is best for the team.  Divers may never "dive-down" an age group.   Each age group has a different number of dives, which are required during a meet:

  • Freshman (10-Under): front dive, back dive, 1 optional (3 dives total)
  • Junior (11-12): front dive, back dive, 2 optional (4 dives total)
  • Intermediate (13-14): front dive, back dive, 3 optional (5 dives total)
  • Senior (15-18): front dive, back dive, 4 optional (6 dives total)

The top 3 divers in each age group earn points for the team (5, 3 and 1 point respectively). Every meet counts towards our overall ranking in the division.

Dual Meets are held on Tuesday nights at 6pm. The warm-ups for the home meets begin at 4:00 pm and warm-ups for away meets begin at 5:00 pm. We will participate in 5 dual meets this summer, 3 will be held at home and 2 away.

Developmental Meets

Developmental meets are not NVSL sanctioned meets. The goal of these meets is to give new and developing divers an opportunity to compete, improve their skills and have fun. Coach assisted dives and jumps are allowed.

Developmental Meets are held on Thursday nights at 6pm. The warm-ups for the home meets begin at 4:00 pm and warm-ups for away meets begin at 5:00 pm. We hope to participate in 2 developmental meets this summer.

Cracker Jack

The Cracker Jack Meet is the largest one-day amateur dive meet in the world and, arguably, one of the funnest. This meet cultivates and invites divers with developing skills across all age group levels to participate in a once a season meet held under NVSL Diving’s direction.

Participation in Cracker Jack disqualifies divers from competing in their Divisional meet. Only divers whose dual meet scores for the current season are all below the qualifier scores may dive in Cracker Jack.

Our Coaching Team will keep track of this and invite all the divers who qualify for this meet to participate. The NVSL has eight age groups of competition: 6 and Under, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, and 13 and Up

 North Springfield Swim Club.

Wally Martin

The Wally Martin Memorial is an NVSL meet that offers divers the opportunity to compete from a 3M board.  Registration for this meet is done via divemeets.com, and there is a $5 entry fee for the 3M event.

Wally Martin will also host a 1M synchro diving competition that will occur Tuesday, July 22, 2025.  The Synchro event is free.

Divers should check with their coaches before signing up to decide on their dive list, a teammate if competing in synchro, and to confirm practice times.

Divisionals & All Stars

The Divisional Championship is an individual meet for the top 16 divers of each team. Coaches will determine who should dive in this meet. Divisionals will take place, Sunday July 20, 2025.

The All Stars is an individual event for divers who qualified at Divisionals. The top 3 divers in each age group will qualify for it. All Stars will take place, Sunday July 27, 2025.
